Sensory Exploration
In our Playschool, sensory activities are crafted to help children sharpen their senses—sight, touch, sound, smell, and taste—so they can better understand and organise the world around them. Through these activities, children learn to recognize similarities and differences, understand dimensions, colours, and shapes, and differentiate between various smells, tastes, and sounds.
Sensory activities also lay the groundwork for learning in areas like math, language, and geometry by teaching children how to classify and sort information.
Some favourite sensory activities include:
- Rainbow Blocks: Exploring different colours and light.
- Shape Sorter: Understanding various shapes and sizes.
- Texture Boards: Differentiating textures through touch.
- Scent Bottles: Identifying and categorizing different smells.
- Pattern Rods: Learning about length and sequence.
- Weighted Cylinders: Grasping concepts of weight and balance.
- Color Tablets: Recognizing and matching different shades.
- Mystery Box: Identifying objects using touch alone.
- Sound Boxes: Distinguishing between different pitches and volumes.
- Nature Puzzle: Learning about plant parts and natural forms.
